on one side in the same way. then fill diagonally against the row after that again one, and let two stay empty, as you find it here in the next circle, so that always four remain white and stay empty; and take care, that you do not neglect to fill in. When thus in the first, nearest circle you have worked toward the right, you must now in the next circle work toward the left, as is shown here, and take care, that at the end one or two stay empty, for that is how it should be. §

After that put again blue with a pen diagonally into the empty rows excepting always four, as is shown in the next following circle; and let again one diagonal row stay empty and then fill the next, as is shown here, with blue and at the same time fill the remaining quatrefoils with red and four with green, and again four with green, until the end, as is shown in the other circle.

Then take black and outline the background once more with a pen. The smoke black shall be thin. so that it flows easily from the pen.
