It read as follows: Now Johann Fust has brought the following charges against the aforementioned Johann Gutenberg: firstly, that under the terms of their written contract, he was to advance in good faith the sum of 800 golden florins to Johann Gutenberg, with which the latter was to carry out the work ­ whether it cost more or less than this sum notwithstanding ­ and that Johann Gutenberg was to pay him interest at six percent on these 800 guilders. He claims to have borrowed the 800 guilders against interest on his behalf and given them to him, with which he was not satisfied, complaining instead ...
